Kim Yeong-Hee
Abstract
This research is the case of the six years-old girl who had separation anxiety with her mother, problems in peer relationship, and anxiety about natural disaster because of insecure attachment. The child naturally had difficult temperament, and the mother was exhausted and depressed from her job and nurture. In this situation, the fosterers for the child had been changed often. As a result of that, the mother and the child couldn¡¯t have secure attachment, and they felt insecurity. Later, the mother gave up her job and had been nurturing the child, but she increased dysfunctional reaction in their relationship. Eventually, the mother had strengthened the feeling of insecurity. Regarding their situation, a therapist offered child-centred play therapy for 26 times so that the children could build the secure and receptive relationship with the therapist. Based on the secure relationship between the therapist and the child, the child expressed her negative emotions generated from her insecure relationship with her mother. Moreover, the therapist offered psychological stability through emotional support and encouragement, and multi-child organization offered them a chance to improve their relationship by applying ¡¯special time¡¯ for them. As a result of this research, the relationship between the child and the mother became a positive relationship. After the child had recovered the relationship with her mother, her insecurity has
been decreased, and her peer relationship in her kindergarten has been improved.
